Recycling Funds for Community Enrichment

Every residential customer in Meridian has access to curbside recycling services as part of their basic weekly collection services.

SSC returns the revenues it receives from the curbside recycling program back to the City of Meridian for recycling projects. These funds are available through a grant process on a 1:1 matching basis for community enrichment projects that pertain to recycling.

The guidelines are simple:

  • The project must be within Meridian city limits
  • Pertain to recycling
  • Contain recycled content if applicable
  • Must have a sign placed on or near the project stating that it was funded in part by the Meridian curbside recycling program

Interested parties can download an application (pdf).

Local schools, parks, and community organizations were awarded funding for a wide variety of projects in 2006.

These projects included benches and tables for a memorial rose garden, playground surfacing material in a City park, picnic tables and trash cans for a charter school, a statue made from scrap metal collected during a neighborhood clean up, benches for a playground and walking path at a school, park benches for a County park, and playground equipment for a school.

The more you recycle, the more Meridian benefits!
