Seasonal Recycling Opportunities

Leaf Recycling

During the week of November 10 – 14, 2008, Sanitary Services Co. will collect the leaves of Meridian residents for recycling, free of charge.

To participate, place your leaves in clean boxes or paper lawn bags and set them out at the curb on your normal trash collection day.  Please keep the leaf containers open for easy identification.  Leaves set out in plastic bags or mixed with trash will not be recycled.

Sanitary Services Co. will collect the leaves separately from your trash and green bin recycling.  The leaves will be taken to the Ada County sanitary landfill where they will be composted.

Meridian residents can also bring their leaves to the SSC transfer station for recycling free of charge.

Ada County residents can haul their leaves to the Hidden Hollow Landfill for recycling free of charge from October 27 through December 20, 2008.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Sanitary Services Co. will collect Christmas trees for recycling from January 5 – 9, 2009.  This service is provided free of charge to Meridian residential trash customers.

Please remove all ornaments, tree stands, lights, and tinsel before setting your tree at the curb.  Trees must be cut into sections no longer than 4 feet so they will fit into our trucks.

Collection will take place on the same day as your trash and recycling.  Sanitary Services Co. will pick up trees separately from your trash and green bin recycling and take them to the Ada County sanitary landfill, where they will be ground into useful mulch.

Meridian residents can also bring their Christmas tree to the SSC transfer station free of charge.  (Limit  of one tree per visit.)

The Ada County Landfill will accept Christmas trees free of charge from December 29, 2008 thru January 24, 2009.
