Minimum requirements are a basic certificate, 60 college credits or 4 years active duty military with an honorable discharge. Applicants from out of state must be able to become certified in Idaho within one year. Starting salary will be dependant upon the applicant’s experience and certification. Benefits include a four day, forty hour work week, dedicated monthly training, ability to advance quickly and numerous special assignments. Benefits also include PERSI retirement, health and dental insurance, sick leave, paid holidays and vacation leave.

Successful applicants will undergo and complete written testing, oral interview, medical examination, psychological evaluation, polygraph and a thorough background investigation. Applicants must also successfully complete the City of Meridian drug testing prior to employment. Applicants successfully completing one of the Idaho college law enforcement programs may also be considered.
